The service offers greater convenience, reduces operational disruption, and helps eliminate the limitations associated with transporting instruments off-site for calibration.
However, the suitability of on-site calibration is not determined by convenience alone. The laboratory must evaluate technical suitability and other conditions that may affect the calibration process and results to ensure that calibration performed at the customer’s site can be carried out appropriately and in accordance with applicable requirements.
CLC operates under its laboratory quality management system and evaluates calibration services in accordance with the principles of ISO/IEC 17025:2017, together with the company’s professional ethics. We place equal importance on customer convenience, technical accuracy, and the reliability of calibration results.
For calibration items to be provided under ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation, CLC must verify them against the laboratory’s actual accredited scope before issuing a quotation. This ensures that the calibration item, instrument, measurement range, and applicable conditions are consistent with the laboratory’s accredited scope.
Therefore, before providing on-site calibration services, CLC evaluates each request on a case-by-case basis. This allows customers to benefit from greater convenience and reduced equipment downtime without compromising the standards, quality, or reliability of the calibration.
What Is Onsite Calibration?
Onsite calibration is when our calibration engineers travel directly to your factory or facility to perform the service — without the need to remove or transport your instruments off-site. This is ideal for permanently installed equipment, large instruments that cannot be moved, or situations where you need to minimize production downtime and reduce the risks associated with transportation.Calibration is carried out under the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard, using accredited reference instruments. The resulting Certificate of Calibration carries the same full validity as calibration performed in our laboratory, and can be used directly to support quality systems such as ISO 9001, GMP, and audit requirements.

Can certificates from onsite calibration be used for quality system audits?
A: Yes. A Certificate of Calibration issued from onsite calibration is fully equivalent to one issued from in-lab calibration, because CLC performs both in-lab and onsite calibration under the ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard. The certificates you receive can be used immediately to support quality system audits such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, GMP, IATF 16949, and inspections by government agencies.
Can instruments that are permanently installed in a production line or cannot be moved be calibrated onsite?
A: Yes — this is actually one of the ideal use cases for onsite service. CLC's engineering team brings accredited reference instruments directly to the instrument's installation point, whether it's embedded in a pipeline system, a large-scale measuring device, or an instrument whose removal would disrupt the production process. Suitability depends on the instrument type and the conditions at the installation site; CLC will assess the calibration scope before issuing any quotation.
How does onsite calibration differ from sending instruments to the laboratory?
A: The main difference is the location where the work is performed — not the quality of the result. For lab calibration, the customer removes and transports the instrument to CLC's laboratory, which suits small, lightweight, and easily transportable instruments. For onsite calibration, CLC's engineering team travels with accredited reference instruments to your facility, which suits permanently installed or large equipment, or when you need to minimize production downtime. Both approaches are performed under the exact same ISO/IEC 17025:2017 standard, and the certificates issued carry identical validity.
Which types of instruments are better suited to onsite calibration than lab calibration?
